Camping in southern Sjælland

The annual office shutdown is upon us, and before the rest of our plans kick in (to spend a week with my family in a summerhouse in northern Sjælland), we took off for our first holiday of any kind with Peanut – camping for two nights in Vemmetoft Strand, about an hour’s drive south of Copenhagen.
Dorte organised a lot of it and struck gold – it was a traditional campsite, with traditional camping types throughout (lots of older couples and families with young children), but despite not really being part of the crowd, we just did our own thing and had a great time. The beach was soft sand and shallow, warm water, and there was more than enough nearby to keep us amused. And it was a dog friendly campsite, so Pea kept out of trouble for the most part.
If you want an easy escape out of town, you could do a lot worse than jumping in the car with a tent and heading here, especially in good weather off season.
