This may be a little out of town for you to consider dedicating a day to if you’re just visiting Copenhagen, but if you’re here for a while then I highly recommend getting yourself out to Bryggeri Skovlyst.

You might have seen their beers in brown bottles in the supermarkets here, but you might not know that their brewery in the forest (‘skov’) to the north west of central CPH is also home to a big restaurant and lots of outdoor seating amongst the trees.

We went there last Thursday, a public holiday here, for my mother-in-law Lis’s birthday lunch, and came away with four beers that aren’t available in the shops (including a delicious raspberry brew).

The food was pure traditional Danish lunch – lots of fish, lots of meat, lots of rugbrød. And big jugs of beer.
