Up in Østerbro, right on the lakes, is a great beer bar called Søernes Ølbar – literally, the lakes beer bar (or should that be lake’s beer bar??).

It’s a basement bar with not much light, so most photos won’t do it justice, but without meaning to turn it into a blog post I snapped this one while having my beer poured the other day, before sitting outside looking over the water. It’s one of my favourite photos in a long time, which probably says a lot about my love of great bars and pubs, more than anything! You can just see the chalk board menu in the background if you squint, and who doesn’t love a well-used candle in an amusing old beer bottle?
