Yeasayer @ Pumpehuset

One of the best surprises for me about living in Copenhagen has been the regular flow of quality live music that comes through town.

The fact that it is a surprise is a little patronising, I admit, but I wouldn’t have guessed that so many great bands would include Denmark on their European touring schedule. We were always a little spoilt for choice in London, and on more than one occasion were lucky enough to actually reach the point of “gig fatigue”. Our older and wiser selves are unlikely to get to that point here, but we could do if we went to everything we fancied.

Since moving here we’ve also seen Bon Iver at Forum (a huge, Wembley Arena-type venue that to be honest seemed a little out of synch with the artist we were seeing), and Snoop Dogg, Friends and Michael Kiwanuka at Vega (not all on the same night, unfortunately). We also bought tickets to both Father John Misty and Band Of Horses but annoyingly couldn’t make those shows due to other things cropping up.

We don’t have any more gigs lined up for the new year, so will have to live off the memory of Yeasayer at Pumpehuset for a little while – not my favourite show of the year here (that would be Snoop which was massively fun) but a pleasure to see them a short ride from home, that’s for sure.
